3 steps to connect
- Put.gemini/settings.json in the project directory (same contents as above), or write it into your user-level settings.
- Set BUSYBEE_API_KEY in your environment variables so the key never lands in a config file.
- Run gemini and use /mcp to confirm busybee is connected.
- Good for scripted batch work: have it generate a comment-insight table for 20 topics in one pass.

}Keep the key out of the code repository; use an environment variable or the client's built-in key management.
What you can do after setup
Three typical jobs: ① keyword topic research — search the past week's top performers under a term and read what the comments are asking; ② competitor account monitoring — pull a given account's recent posts and how interaction is moving; ③ creator shortlisting — search accounts by niche, compare followers and interaction, then pull each account's posts.

Will my key leak?
The key lives only in your local client config; requests go straight to our endpoint with no third-party relay.
Can I use the China platforms right away?
Overseas platforms work as soon as you sign up. New accounts get 5 free trial calls on the China platforms (Douyin and Xiaohongshu, no balance deducted); after that, a cumulative top-up of $30 on the account unlocks them.
What does one conversation cost?
Billed per call, usually from a fraction of a cent to a few cents per request — see the pricing page. Failed calls are refunded automatically.
